Tips to Self-Publishing Your Book

By Elite Online Publishing

Self-publishing is a great way to get your novel out into the world. However, it can be a bit daunting. Here are some tips you should know when it comes to self-publishing:

It’s important to make sure that you have the means to fully create your book. You don’t want to get started, have it almost done, and then realize that you have no money for the cover. You want to make it seem like you got your book published by one of the top publishing companies or people will not want to buy your book.

Don’t forget that you need a means for people to buy your book. Contact bookstores and ask who are there distributers. Distributors will help you make sure that your book will be in bookstores for people to buy.

Self-promotion is key. It may seem daunting, but if you want your book to sell, you are going to have to put yourself out there. Radio is the easiest way to go as a way to market your book. Look up talk shows and ask them if you can be interviewed on their show. Radio stations are always looking for people to interview. Hiring a publicist can help as well to get you and your book out there. It’s important to start out small and focus on establishing yourself in the local market first. From there, people can start talking about your book, and the boundaries can be limitless on where it can go from there.

Start early when it comes to self-promoting. You would need basically a year in advance in order for it to be truly effective. A buzz about your book is important so that sales will be ensured when your book is finally released.

Take some time to figure out when you want your book to be released. November and December are big months to release a book, but you will be competing with the big publishing companies. A little before or after November and December are good times to release your book and ensure the best it can do sales-wise.

Self-publishing can be tough, but don’t ever give up. If you push through, your book will be a success. Put yourself out there, and you will be surprised from the results of doing so. If you can put the time and energy into creating a book, then the same energy and time (or even more) of where that came from can be put into marketing your book, self-promoting, and dealing with distribution.
