Spunk Burke's Bio

After graduating from Babson College, Spunk entered the emerging contract staffing industry and spent the bulk of his career selling and managing various innovations pertaining to contingency workforce services.

In the mid-70s Spunk pioneered the contract computer programming business whereby programmers were paid on an hourly basis (disrupting the service bureau and fixed price models) – an evolution that rapidly spawned today’s mega billion-dollar IT contract services sector.

Spunk started and managed 2 contract programming firms generating aggregate revenues exceeding $450 million with a network of 15-20 offices nationally.

In 1996, Spunk turned his attention to the various challenges businesses encounter operating as lean organizations. He launched OutSmart, and Out-Tasker, both unique contingent staffing firms offering executive project talent to corporate decision makers with more problems than time or expertise.

His latest iteration of contracting has shifted from marketing services to corporate clients to a coaching practice that targets the needs of business professionals over the age of 50 who seek to work on gigs that are project based. In lieu of the fact that recruiters and job boards seldom have needs for business contractors, Spunk’s clients learn to become independent and self-sufficient with their new-found ability to identify and land gig opportunities.
