Ruth Mary Allan 's Bio

Ruth went through a very dark time in 2016 when she suffered a personal loss, and was subsequently plunged into an incredibly difficult time in her corporate job.  Unhappy and unfulfilled, and struggling to come to terms with the unexpected loss, she became incredibly stressed and depressed.  Her wellbeing was rock bottom and her relationships too began to suffer.

Realising there was more to life -  that she had more to give and was more capable than she was giving herself credit for, she asked herself "Am I truly activating and harnessing my full potential to make a difference in this world?"  Driven to be happy with the answer to her question, she decided to take back control of her life again.  She reached out to high performance coaching, sought clarity on what was important to her, and set an intention to focus on taking the right steps to move her towards her dreams of helping others activate and harness their full potential.  She left the corporate world and restarted her business to help others harness their power and activate their full potential.

After studying Physics and German at Imperial College, in her 20s Ruth completed a PhD in Medical Imaging and Spectroscopy Applied to Dermatology at the University of Cambridge, becoming the first in the world to image skin cancer using Terahertz technology.  This led her to giving international talks around the world on her research and she was an inventor on two patents.  Inspired by the experiences she had as a PhD Researcher, Ruth founded the company HT Consultants in 2003 to help emerging technology organisations "Harness Technology.”  By age 31, for her contribution to Terahertz technology she was recognised as a Role Model for Women in Information, Technology, Electronics and Communication by the UK Government and as a Role Model for Women in Optics in the USA by SPIE - the International Society for Optics and Photonics.

Since then she has been working for large and small organisations involved in science, engineering and technology to help them gain greater clarity and focus for the successful delivery of complex projects and programmes, including 3years as an employee in the corporate world.  In 2016 she was invited to speak on International Women’s day at Imperial College as a recognised role model for Woman in Innovation.

Today Ruth is a Certified High Performance Coach™, Business Performance Consultant and professional speaker.  She helps individuals and organisations activate and harness their full potential so that they can achieve their dreams and continues to maintain an interest in helping emerging technology companies.  She is currently a judge for Imperial College’s Faculty of Natural Science Make a Difference Competition.

In her spare time Ruth enjoys road cycling, mountaineering, climbing and ski touring.  She is a mountain leader and ski leader and is married to Dave, who is her rock and guiding star.
